The Marvel Cinematic Universe (also known as MCU) is a media franchise and shared universe. This American media franchise is centered on a series of superhero movies that are independently produced by Marvel Studios. These movies are mainly based on the characters that appear in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. TV and digital series, comic books, and short films are included in this franchise.

The first movie developed by MCU is Iron Man released in 2008. The second phase of films culminating in the crossover film The Avengers started with Iron Man 3 and ended with Ant-Man. The third phase started with Captain America: Civil War and concluded with Spider-Man: Far From Home.
